Local Newborn Photography | Cutest Little Keeper

Welcome to the newborn photo studio baby Judah!

Judah recently came into my Fort Collins photo studio for his newborn photos. His parents had so many great ideas for his photos. We of course had to do a Harry Potter set up for Judah. His parents are big fans. His nursery and baby book are both Harry Potter themed. Judah’s mom told me, she stood on the stack of Harry Potter books for a maternity photo! So much fun.

Newborns Change So Fast

If you are a parent, then you already know, babies change so much in so little time. It is simultaneously amazing and hard to watch. You really only get to have a newborn for about 2 months. Photographing babies during this time means so much to me. I want parents to be able to look at their baby’s photos and remember what it felt like to hold that sweet little baby.

Newborn Client Closet

At the beginning of every newborn session, I have the parents pick out an outfit, wraps and backgrounds that they want to use. Letting the parents pick what we use allows for endless possibilities and color combinations. If I was the one picking, everything would look the same every photo session. How boring would that be?

The Rainbow After The Storm

I’ve sat here for the last 30 minutes trying to figure out what to write here. Two of my boys are rainbow babies, so I know how heartbreaking the storm really is. The other side of that is, I know how incredibly special it is to finally hold your rainbow baby.

Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue,

Thanks for coming into the newborn studio Judah. I truly enjoyed photographing you and all your amazing hair!

Fort Collins Newborn Photo Shoot | And Baby Makes Three

Welcome to the newborn photo studio baby Micah!

Micah recently came into my Fort Collins newborn photo studio for his first photos. I had so much fun with him! He let do all of the fun stuff. From blanket poses to the bed prop, he was relaxed and sleepy through it all.

Special Items From Home

Bringing items to the studio that are special to you, will really make your photos unique. I love seeing and hearing about each unique piece. Whether a family member made a blanket that you want to incorporate into the photos or if you want a memorable photo of your baby with the flag of Kenya, I am ready to get creative with you!

Newborn and Family Photos

One of my favorite parts of every newborn session is the family photos. There is just something special about creating the first family photos for parents. It never gets old. Seeing parents interact with their new baby is so sweet to watch.

Thanks for coming into the newborn studio Micah! I had so much fun.

Top 5 Questions to Ask Your Newborn Photographer

Newborn photography is a very delicate form of photography. It takes skill, patience and a lot of knowledge of newborn posing safety. Here is a list of the 5 things you should ask before hiring your newborn photographer. Written by newborn photographer Megan of Megan Grove Newborn Photography.

1) How long have you been photographing newborns?

  • Not weddings, not seniors, not families, how long have you been working with newborns specifically? Newborns are delicate and need to be treated very carefully. It takes time to learn how to pose babies safely and how to keep them calm and comfortable during the photo session.

2) Do you have a newborn portfolio to look through?

  • When looking at a newborn photographer’s portfolio, it is important to see if the photos have a similar editing style/esthetic throughout the photos? When picking a newborn photographer, you want to know what you are getting. If you aren’t sure if your photos will look bright and airy or dark and moody, your photographer probably hasn’t landed on an editing style yet.

3) Do you do composites for hard poses?

  • Newborn safety should be your photographer’s number 1 priority. There are certain poses that cannot be done safely without composites (combining 2 or more photos). If the photographer does these poses, they should have their hands on the baby the whole time. See photo example below.

4) Do you have a studio?

  • Whether they have a brick-and-mortar store or if they have a studio in their home, this is the time to find out what amenities each photographer has. Do they have props, outfits, headbands etc.? Because these items can be very expensive, it is great if the photographer will provide these for your session. Many newborn photographers have fully stocked prop closets. Does yours?

5) Are you Vaccinated?

  • I know this can be an awkward question to ask but if it is important to you, it should be important to your photographer.

I hope this list helps you make an informed decision when it comes to your baby’s newborn photos.
