How often should you get professional photos of your baby done? That fully depends on you. I’m going to list the most popular frequencies and ages of baby photo sessions so you can decide for yourself.

ONE AND DONE. One photo session during your baby’s first year is a favorite for many. Many people save up a long time to have professional photos done. They put their whole budget into one photo session. Most people who only do one photo session during their baby’s first year choose between a newborn session or a 1st birthday session.

TWO FOR YOU? Most people who choose to do two photo sessions during their baby’s first year usually do newborn and a 1st birthday session. This is a fun way to catch the beginning and the end of their first year. It’s amazing to see all the ways they have change in a year.

THREE FOR ME. Three photo sessions in the first year is my favorite! Newborn, sitter and 1st birthday is the perfect combination to fully see all the changes at every major milestone.

FOUR OR MORE. If you don’t want to miss a moment this choice might be for you. I photographed my youngest every month when he was a baby. Knowing he was my last was really hard for me. Those photos mean so much to me!

Nolan recently came into my Fort Collins newborn photo studio for his first photos. I had so much fun with him! He let do all of the fun stuff. From blanket poses to the bed prop, he seemed to love it all.

Newborns Change So Fast

If you are a parent, then you already know, babies change so much in so little time. It is simultaneously amazing and hard to watch. You really only get to have a newborn for about 2 months. Photographing babies during this time means so much to me. I want parents to be able to look at their baby’s photos and remember what it felt like to hold that sweet little baby.

Newborn and Family Photos

One of my favorite parts of every newborn session is the family photos. There is just something special about creating the first family photos for parents. It never gets old. Seeing parents interact with their new baby is so sweet to watch.

Northern Colorado Newborn Photography | You Have My Whole Heart

Welcome to the newborn photo studio sweet Mila!

Newborn Photos at Local Studio

Mila recently visited me at my Fort Collins newborn photo studio. She is just so adorable! She slept for most of her session thanks to her parents keeping her awake on the car ride to the studio. This can be incredibly hard especially if you have a bit of a drive to get to the studio. I’m always so impressed with parents that have a bit of a drive and still manage to keep their baby awake.

Having my newborn photo studio located in Fort Collins is great. It is central to many towns in Northern Colorado. Milliken, Wellington, Firestone, Greeley, Eaton, Johnstown, Denver, Loveland and even Cheyenne; a lot my families come from other towns to get photos of their babies done, just like Mila.

Newborn Photos for “Older” Babies

Mila was born a few weeks before Christmas. Her family was able to snuggle her and enjoy her all through the holidays. When she came in for her photos, she was about 6 weeks new. Typically, the older the baby gets the less they sleep for newborn photos. Mila was an exception to this rule. She slept beautifully and did absolutely amazing.

Leading up to having your baby there is so much to think about and organize. Sometimes things like newborn photos can slip our mind or maybe it’s not even on our radar. I don’t limit the age of my “newborns” to under 1 month for their photos. I believe every baby deserves beautiful photos no matter their age. If I limited the age of my newborns, I wouldn’t have met Mila and her wonderful family.

Baby and Family Photos

I love getting to photograph families and their new babies. Mila is so lucky; she has wonderful grandma and three big brothers to help look after her. They clearly love her so much already!

I love helping parents capture all the tiny details. The small things are hard to remember but a photograph can bring you right back to that moment in time.

Fort Collins Newborn Studio | Sweetest Little Superhero

Leon and his family came into my Fort Collins studio a few weeks ago for his newborn photos. He was born a few weeks before Christmas and his family was able to cuddle him all through the holidays.

I love photographing new parents with their tiny babies! Excitement and joy are clearly visible on their faces. These sweet moments are exactly what made me fall in love with newborn photography.

All three of them did amazing. His parents were able to even get him cozy enough for a little smile.

Newborn Portraits

Leon is so incredibly sweet. I could have held him all day! Even though he was a little over a month old, he slept for a lot of his photos. Sleepy babies are the most fun to photograph. They let you do really fun poses. His parents brought in a few outfits making his photos truly unique. He is the cutest little superhero around!

I absolutely love photographing newborns. I love helping parents capture all the tiny details. The small things are hard to remember but a photograph can bring you right back to that moment in time.

Newborn Photographer in Fort Collins | From Small Beginnings, Come Great Things

Fort Collins Newborn Photo Studio

Mason visited me at my Fort Collins newborn portrait studio last weekend. I was so excited to meet him. I have been photographing his older brother and sister for a couple years. I love seeing families I’ve grown to know, have new babies. The familiarity makes the photo session feel effortless and fun. It feels like catching up with old friends.

NICU Newborn Warrior’s First Photos

This little guy spent several days in the NICU before getting to meet his parents. From what I have read, NICU stays make minutes feel like hours and hours feel like days. As a mother, I can’t imagine how hard that must have been.

Time lost does not mean love lost! He so clearly loves his parents deeply. You are probably wonder how I know this. He would be completely asleep, then his mom or dad would say his name and he would smile. Not once or twice, over and over again!

Though I Be But Little, I Am Fierce

I have photographed many tiny babies, but baby Mason was definitely the smallest I’ve had in the studio. We were worried if my outfits would be small enough (he doesn’t fit well in preemie clothes yet). Luckily, we were able to tuck the little green outfit to fit better and he loved being wrapped.

Holly recently came into my Fort Collins newborn photo studio for her first photos. I absolutely loved photographing her. She is just so perfect! She slept for most of her newborn photos and gave us such cute little smiles.

Holiday Photos in January?

With a name like Holly Noelle of course we had to do a holiday set. I love that she greeted her parents right before ringing in the New Year. Isn’t her name so fitting? This sweet baby girl is wearing a forest green wrap and matching holiday headband from my curated prop collection.

Newborn and Sibling Photos

I completely understand why parents worry about how older siblings will do for photo sessions. With 3 boys of my own, I know how to adapt to different personalities and keep the newborn session moving and enjoyable. We always have so much fun, getting great sibling photos is never really a problem. I loved photographing this big brother with his new baby sister!

Newborn and Family Photos

Theo and his family came into my Fort Collins studio last week for his newborn photos. I love the colors his family chose for their clothes. The different shades of blue photographed beautifully! He slept for most of his photos making my job so easy and enjoyable.

Holiday Photos in January?

Theo was born just a few days before Christmas, so of course, we had to do a few holiday photos. His parents brought in the perfect wrap to really tie these woodsy holiday photos together. Although my newborn studio is fully stocked with everything we would need for photos, personal items can really make a photo more special. Look at his little grin!

Newborn and Sibling Photos

Parents often worry about how older siblings are going to do for photo sessions. We always have so much fun, getting great sibling photos is never really a problem. With 3 boys of my own, I know how important it is for big brothers to feel involved. I love coming up with ways for them to “help” and have fun. I love photographing siblings and their new baby’s!

Newborn Photos at Local Studio

Sweet little Amelia recently visited me at my Fort Collins newborn photo studio. She is just so adorable! She was awake for most of her session, but with patience, she slept for just enough. This allowed me to get so much variety in her photos. She even smiled in a few photos.

We started with a few holiday photos. Amelia was dressed in a festive green outfit from my client closet. My client closet is available for all newborn photo sessions. I just can’t get over how pretty she is!

Newborn Photos for “Older” Babies

A few weeks ago, I was asked if a 7-week-old is too old for newborn photos? My answer is, definitely not too old! It may take a little more patience to get the baby to sleep but when they do finally fall asleep, they do amazingly cute things just like Amelia.

Fort Collins Twin Newborn Photographer | Double the Cuteness

Welcome to the newborn studio Alice and Emma!

Newborn twins, Alice and Emma recently had their first photo session. I was so excited to photograph them. They are far from my first set of twins, but they are my first girl/girl pair that I have photographed. They slept so well! I was surprised how many different positions and backgrounds they let me do. Did I mention they smiled several times?

First Christmas Photos for Twin Newborn Girls

These sweet girls loved being wrapped. They had complimentary red and green wraps with matching tiny Christmas light headbands. I loved photographing them separately, but I loved photographing them together even more. They were more comfortable being together. Every time I posed them next to each other they seemed to relax even more.

Fort Collins Newborn Photography | Baby’s First Christmas Portraits

Welcome to the studio Baby Mateo!

A few days ago, I welcomed Baby Mateo to my Fort Collins newborn portrait studio. We wrapped him in a festive green wrap and gently placed him in the set. He was so cozy he even smiled!

Newborn and Family Portraits

After a few quick holiday photos, we moved onto their first family photos. I’m going to say that again, FIRST FAMILY PHOTOS. This is such a sweet moment that I get to capture for the family. I absolutely love seeing first time parents with their new baby. You can see it easier than I can explain it. Just look at the way Dad is looking at his baby, that smile! You can just see the joy and excitement coming from him. These are the moments we will want to look back on in 5, 10, 25 years.

Look another smile!

This sweet little baby bear gave the cutest smiles throughout his newborn session. This bed set is a favorite for parents and babies.

I love bringing little details I’ve learned about the parents into the photos. Dad is a fan of baseball. Of course, the littlest Rockies fan needs a baseball in his photos.

Tiny outfits for tiny humans

My favorite part of every newborn session is the blanket poses. It’s always so much fun to see what positions the baby will let me put him in. This little guy let me do all of the cutest cuddly poses. My Fort Collins Newborn Portrait studio is full of cute outfits and various other props. Mateo wore my yellow waffle print outfit with a little matching hat.
